House of 1,000 Corpses

house of 1000 corpses

I have a certain respect for Rob Zombie’s balls-nailed-to-the-wall style. He obviously knows his horror-history better than most young directors, and in that way, his style is oft-compared to other homage-heavy dudes like Tarentino, Rodríguez and Alexandre Aja. “House of 1000 Corpses” was sloppy as hell, but that’s what made it somewhat endearing. The cinematography was mostly terrible, which becomes more obvious when you watch it back-to-back with the far-superior “The Devil’s Rejects.” My fear is that Zombie is growing too fast; that his “Halloween” remakes will be seen as studio-assisted misteps in hindsight. But as long as he keeps casting Sid Haig in awesome roles all is forgiven.
